THE J man is right. Are you just lazy? Or do you think that looks good? Try using the other movement sprites it might look better then just moving a sprite forward a bit.

Guys, no need to be extra harsh about it.

Nohasi, I took a look at your animation in my gif animator, and I noticed a few things:

1) Your frames are set to change every 30 mili-seconds or so. A good rule of thumb is to only have it be between 4-7 mili-seconds if you're animating movement.
2) You probably could use more frames, since it's so short otherwise. To go along with this...
3) You need to use different movement sprites. A really simple way of doing this is just to change the shading on their feet parts. Since they're doing the "running so fast their feet look like wheels," it should be really simple.
4) In an animation, you should have a smooth transition from one place to the other. The best way to do this is by having the entire distance covered. In other words, it shouldn't jump, and the best way to do that is to have each frame advancing it. Toy around with how far they advance to find a way that looks best for you.

Overall, it's not too bad. You definitely kept them on the same line of movement the whole way through, which is usually pretty hard for newbies. Keep it up.

I red the comments first and was going to agree with BoredomComics' "no need to be extra harsh about it."
Then I actually saw it...yeah they were definetely not being harsh about it at all really, this is just SO bad! As an animator I find this offensive!

Because you were the best animator ever when you started?

Seriously, no need for that attitude.

Wow, seriously?
We all start out at some point. Different for every person. If you do nothing but flame, with someone get better?
Personally, I think it needs a lot of work. But its not the worse I've seen. I'm worse. Believe me.
Good try and good luck in the future ^^

I agree with boredomcomics, as they say "a expert was once a beginer" you can't be the best right when you strat! and it could be much worse as what i can think of.
edit: also, he could use some work, but he could be worse.

There is no way to blame this, THIS IS SJ, NOT NEWGROUNDS!

boredomcomics, June 19th, 2008, 4:35 pm ( Reply )

Um, wow.

It's so great to realize that no one has learned any lesson from recent events. :(

Guys need to stop saying stupid things like "no-one starts out an expert". WELL DUH! I actually practiced before I went about uploading my stuff. My first ones were bad too, but at least they didn't outright suck because I spent time on them to make sure they didn't. I expect everyone to do the same, but this here is just someone having no clue what their doing and making something awful. It may not be their fault though if they only had like 1 sprite to work with, but it's still bad.

Also yes flaming does help. I was flamed alot, now I'm better than my old animater friends.

boredomcomics, June 22nd, 2008, 2:39 am ( Reply )

You don't have to be an asshole to get a point across. You can't argue that.

And no, I really don't care what level of "prep work" someone did before they uploaded something. They wanted advice, it seems like a good idea to give it to them. WITHOUT FLAMING.

Seriously, you've got a borderline elitist attitude there, Kemosabe.

boredomcomics, June 22nd, 2008, 1:27 pm ( Reply )

I'm using English; you should try it some time.

And no, there will never be a point in time where I believe that flaming accomplishes anything. If anything, the person won't want to listen at all, as they're too busy getting defensive.

But seeing how this isn't even remotely about the actual comic at this point, I'm done. He got some good crit, and I look forward to seeing what he does with it.
